its just an idea to help create the bigger picture of what you want to make. although that would be awesome to see, i highly doubt its actually in gwen.
take a look at the factions concept art book for example... many luxon jade powered crab shaped drillers were drawn, and we only saw a few of those that were still just background objects. plus they were toned down in size and mystical feeling too. Or how about the huge statue of Abaddon and 2 dragons wrapped around him? or the abaddon/margonite face shaped temple, or the huge tin-can headed reaper statue x100000 the size of a human? (inside the nightfall art book) So you can see that alot of great ideas don't make it into the game just because they were made.
oh man, thinking back now at the different concepts they had for Shiro and probably like an end-form for him were so awesome... I wish those were in the game, hes so simply "blah" in the real game. I think Anet needs to get more into the over-the-top detailed magical places (especially in GW2) they work hard but I think this time around they need to step it up and make it look in a way that you forget your looking at a game and your really in the world. Thats my opinion though.

Concept art needs to really be filled out in the game, to be honest. The sheer level of awesome would rise dramatically. Like the concept art for Kaineng City -- holy crap. I was imagining what it would be to run across those rooftops... instead, you're down below in the maze. -_-
Or Kryta would be a real forest. Or Unwaking waters would look like a god planted it there. Nika wouldn't look so damn skinny in-game...
Although you gotta hand it to the concept artists -- they know how to make... epic.
